Giving Circles
What is a giving circle?
A giving circle (or funding circle) is simply when people get together to learn about and fund an area of common interest. In the past decade, hundreds of giving circles have been formed often focussing on a geographic area and/or a concern, e.g., Hurricane Katrina relief, women’s rights, international development, alternative medicine…you name it. Each giving circle has its own style or approach, which often evolves over time.
For more information, visit online the Giving Circle Network and Giving Forum's knowledge center on giving circles. We know of no other giving circles focused primarily on arts and social change.
Why join a giving circle?
- Enjoy greater impact by combining your donation with the gifts of others.
- Connect with people who share your interests and work collaboratively.
- Learn together about a field.
- Be an anonymous donor if you wish, but the giving circle can have a valuable public presence.
- Be supported by others to make time to engage in the topic.
What commitment is required?
- Different giving circles have different ways to to be involved and different expectations. See the Get Involved page and we think you'll be pleased to learn how easy it is to be involved with Arts Rising.
